DESIGN COMMUNICATION 1
In this module we get to learn how to communicate our designs through sketches/technical drawings. As future Architects, it's vital that we develop the skills of conveying our ideas into drawings in order for others to understand them.
My tutor throughout the entirety of this project was Ms Indrani Vanniasingham.

Taylor's Graduate Capabilities Acquired:

PROJECT 1: SKETCHING
For our very assignment, we were required to do on-site sketching by selecting two interior and two exterior space within Taylor's University. With our selections we had to sketch them out using architectural sketching techniques; playing with tonal values and such.

Through this project I developed a skill in the visualising of space through observation and perception.
PROJECT 2: TECHNICAL DRAWINGS
This project was divided into two parts, 1 and 2. The main aim of this was to help us develop skills in orthographic drawings.
PART 1
With a given object – the studio's drafting table, we were required to create 1:10 drawings of it, which were the top view, two selected side views, and the section.

This was a really interesting project as it was quite hands on; we had to measure the dimensions of the table ourselves, right down to the smallest details.

PART 2
Part 2, however, was divided into 3 parts – A, B, and C. We were given a task to produce orthographic drawings of the Margaret Esherick House by Louis Kahn, with a scale of 1:75:
-
2 plans (first and second floor)
-
2 sections
-
4 elevations
-
1 site plan (smaller scale than 1:75)
-
1 exterior axonometric
-
1 exploded axonometric
-
1 two-point perspective (exterior)
-
1 one-point perspective(sectional)

As a whole, I gained a lot of knowledge and skills in techniques, construction, lineweights, tonal values, penmanship and workmanship. I really enjoyed learning the basics.
2A: PLAN, SITE PLAN, ELEVATIONS, SECTIONS

2B: AXONOMETRIC PROJECTIONS (INTERIOR & EXTERIOR)

2C: PERSPECTIVES

PROJECT 3: INTEGRATED WITH STUDIO 1
For our final project, we were required to create drawings based on our model from the Studio 1 final project, which was our hideout. We had to draw out floor plans, one section/sectional perspective, one elevation, 3 perspectives/one exploded axono.

Again, I liked how hands-on this was. I really liked putting my skills to the test; I was very proud of the outcome.
